The furniture is tan. I’m thinking about changing the ivory chair fabrics to a bright patterned color.

Best answer about Our dining room is milk chocolate brown. What other colors should I use?

You have a couple of choices. But, remember, you want your dishes to coordinate, not clash with your dining room.

You could go with a combination of spicy colors like golden yellow, rusty red and burnt orange used together or alone.

Or, use shades of green from sage green to lime green

If you want bright and bold, citrus colors go well with brown — Lemon, Orange and Lime

Or, perhaps blue shades from aqua to turquoise.

Certain shades of Purple look great with Milk Chocolate Brown.

The best way to pick chair fabric successfully is to go to the fabric store with your wall color paint chip and see what fabrics/patterns catch your eye. Just be sure to use slipcover or upholstery weight fabrics and no matter how tempted you are, do not use apparel fabric for covering chairs.
Apparel fabric will not stand up to the test of time.

Go to the fabric store with an open mind and you are sure to find some fabrics you love. Most fabric stores will give you free swatch cuttings to take home to view in your home surroundings. While you are there, if you need new drapery, check out the drapery fabric

Home Decorating fabrics are typically 54″ wide, you will need 24″ for every two chairs if you are just stapling fabric to the seats ( Using a 24″ length of 54″ wide fabric and cut it down the center, you will have two 24″W x 27″L pieces to cover two seats.
