My floors, window seat and dining set are orangy brown. The sideboard and hutch are both darker, both I cannot replace. I am willing to slipcover chairs, and paint any color.
Best answer about I have a dining room that has an assortment of wood all over from floorst to furniture. what color goes?

I had the same issue, and found that a deep burgandy went brilliantly with the darker wood grains, and cream with the lighter wood grains, but it does come down to preference…. anything goes, just go with your colour tastes..

Could use a color from living room for walls or drapes, and a color from kitchen for accessories.
Color suggestions:
white or ivory
deep rose, or burgundy
coral
banana or lemon yellow or pale gold
mint or sage green
aqua or turquoise
sky or smoke blue
lavender
caramel
Brown of any tone is a neutral. You can do anything you want. Greens and reds usually pop with heavier woodwork but really, you can literally chose anything that pleases you. Get swatches and paint chips and hold them up. You will see that most things will work. You can do anything from traditional to contemporary if you are savvy enough.
Blue. Nice contrast- opposite on the colorwheel.
You could try stripping the sideboard and hutch and staining them a closer shade to the dining set. Not a good idea if they’re antique in which case it could ruin their value. The Home Depot, has introduced the Color Solutions Center — a 30-foot wall of paint sample heaven. Get a couple wood samples that match what you have and try them with that to see what goes good in your mind. Bring the paint chips and wood samples to your dining room though as different light sources like flouresant in stores will greatly change what a color will look like.
Personally I feel that with wood tones which are natural you should go with neutral colors to compliment or go for contrast with a deep color like burgandy or green.
I like an ecclectic look. tie your look together with nicely coordinated fabrics and everything will work just fine. I have a home full of antiques and hand me downs and it all works!
Go to the paint store and pick out three possible wall colors that appeal to your eye. If they are available in the sample jars, so much the better. If not, buy a quart of each. Get three sheets of posterboard and paint one paint color of each sheet of posterboard. Tape the painted posterboard on your wall and live with the colors for awhile. One will emerge as your favorite. So much better than those tiny paint chips and now you have a color swactch you can cut to size and carry with you for choosing window coverings, rugs, etc
I like to approach paint from what other rooms of paint you see when you look at or are in your dining room. Too many different colors makes your home look like a carnival. You do not have to go monochromatic but depending on your style, shades of green are in nature so they tend to blend with anything, especially wood. Go with what makes you happy,. I’m sure there is a color in your home that you really like. Try taking that color and using different shades of that color throughout your home. I also would suggest finding your inspiration in your fabrics and accessories. If you have fabrics that are permanent in the room pull the color that least shows in the fabric and it will pull it all together. Accent walls are also great choose a light color for 3 walls and put a rich color on one wall. I always start with the things I like the most in the room before I choose a wall color. Take your time, painting the right color is important. Finally make sure that the lighting in the room will support whatever color you choose.
try this color for the walls: “Softened Green” Sherwin Williams. its a subtle sage. The chairs would look fantastic upholstered in a silvery grey satin, or maybe stripes of alternating gray and silver. these are subtle, earthy, elegant colors that can balance and unite the different wood finishes…..maybe you could make a seat cushion for the window seat upholstered same as the chairs?
